Last week I collaborated with local maker Kami Goertz, an incredible textile artist whose work is so unique and detailed. I took some time on a sunny afternoon, filmed her creative process and I’m really happy with how it turned out. Here are some screenshots from that shoot! I’ll post the completed piece once I finish the final edit.
Spent part of my afternoon at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, checking out the current exhibit “In Place: Reflections of Manitoba”. The space is undergoing some massive renovations in the midst of the pandemic so the exhibit space is limited, but SO well done. I snapped some pics while I was there and wanted to share them.
Creativity is like a well and sometimes it can run dry. I’ve had that feeling so many times…but getting out of my routine, checking out local art and taking pictures was the best way to reenergize my inner artist and fill the creative well back up.
I was at my studio on Sunday organizing and cataloging some of my work, and I couldn’t resist taking a few pics with my new Canon DSLR. I can remotely connect it to my phone, hence the pic of me holding my phone. I always enjoy being in my creative space, it’s energizing with all the sunshine and it’s fun to look back through my collection of art. Hope everyone is having a good start to your week.
This monochromatic piece was done in Prussian blue and I’m just so happy with this. The tone, hues and the variation from one colour are extraordinary. Excited to work with this colour more.
I love being downtown, there’s something about the buildings, all the activity and sounds of people and the rush of cars passing by that give me all the good feels. Here’s a few shots in glorious black and white in my city of Winnipeg
During the holiday season I painted a gift for my husband, a piece based around his experience during a sweat lodge where an elder gave him his name and his colours.

I wanted to capture the clarity of the moment coupled with the intensity of a new responsibility given to him. From the darkness of the sweat lodge comes new light.
Such a simple colour, but the hue is so nice. I love this pink. I was playing around with portrait pink and aqua green and created this little graphic. 16×20 in acrylic.
Sat down at my canvas with no plan, and I am so pleased with how this one turned out.
Something so moody about the city after a rainfall, especially in black and white. A bit unusual since it’s January but we will take it. It will be snow and -35 soon enough.

2020 has come to a close and here we are on the very first day of 2021. The past year was marked with creative highs and personal lows and the one thing that remained constant and familiar was my art studio. I wanted to share some shots of my space from this past year, to celebrate the time that has passed and to look forward to working more in this art space.
I hope everyone has a creative and cozy start to the new year. I’m going to make another cup of coffee, read a bit of my book and then venture down to my second home, my art studio.
